My major is Communication. I learned a lot about the power of social media. I wanted to use this chance to practice what I have learned and gain some experience.
My project is about creating five videos on YouTube. These five videos are mainly about lifestyle and fashion. Besides creating five videos, I also managed my Instagram account in order to promote my YouTube channel.
I planned to finish my project in one month. For completing it successfully, I firstly created a schedule which told me when I should shoot, edit and upload. Before officially starting to shoot, I made scripts for each videos. Because of this previous schedule, I finally completed my project successfully and on time.
I wanted to practice my skills and learn some experience in my project. I have to say that I did make a good use of my project to try something exciting, to learn something new, and to practice something I have learned. Without this project, I still can do what I planned to do, but I might stand still or give up without any impetuses. This project stimulated me to accomplish what I wanted to do for a long time.
After completing the project, my biggest area of growth would be the knowledge about audiences on social media platforms. Through analyzing the number of views of different style videos, I summarized that YouTube viewers prefer to watch the video with speaking audios. Through reading the comments, I knew most of Instagram viewers are positive, they like giving compliments. Trying to upload videos and post pictures at the different time helped me to summarize the best time to show yourself on YouTube is from 10 pm to 12 pm. Communicating with my audience helped me improve my contents. Summarizing audience behaviors helped me know more managing tricks on social media.
I appreciate that SUU has EDGE Program. From EDGE 1000 to EDGE 4000, I did learned a lot about how to be a beginner, how to plan my project, how to show my works. These skills are very useful and important for us when we enroll in actual society practices. The project which we finished in EDGE 3000 would set us part from others. I believe EDGE Program is a very helpful course in my study career which can help me be successful.
